Manuel Moctezuma leads the transactional practice group at his firm and focuses his transactional practice on structuring, documenting, and negotiating domestic and international business transactions in real estate, energy, shipping, aviation, services, telecommunications and construction industries.
He is authorized to practice law in all states and courts in Mexico. He enjoys a good mix of business and international litigation work. He has succesfully enforced multimillion-dollar foreign judgments in civil and commercial matters. Furthermore, Mr. Moctezuma has been appointed in numerous instances as an expert witness in Mexican law with respect of taking of evidence in civil and commercial matters to be used in foreign judicial and arbitration proceedings.
Mr. Moctezuma is also an avid contributor to the South Texas College of Law, and has spoken at numerous presentations in both Mexico and the United States of America on Mexican law at the Houston Bar Association, the Greenspoint District in Houston and has presented numerous CLE programs in Houston.
Manuel Moctezuma published an article in a Currents– International Trade Law Journal, and has contributed on several other articles published by the American Bar Association which focus in oil and gas topics. On December 2013 Manuel made a presentation before the Houston Bar Association discussing energy law issues; and published an article entitled “Mexican Oil Law: Protecting Foreign Investors Through International Arbitration Agreements” that appeared in the summer 2011 edition of the ABA’s Section of Litigation newsletter.
Manuel practiced law as a foreign legal consultant with Ajamie LLP in Houston, Texas from 2004 to 2007. In 2004, he practiced with Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice PLLC in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as part of Wake Forest University Litigation Clinic program. Before joining Moctezuma Castro, Manuel practiced law in Mexico with Chalela y Moctezuma, S.C., as named partner, White & Case, S.C. and Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, S.C.
